Chimney Liner Restoration Is Possible With HeatShield®

When homeowners find out they have chimney liner damage, they typically think two things: money and mess. And while it’s true, liner replacement can be costly and we do have to tear out your old liner if we’re relining with stainless steel – that’s no longer the only option.

We’re happy to now offer HeatShield® as an alternative to our clients in Milwaukee. This is a revolutionary system that makes it possible for us to repair and resurface clay tile liners – something that was previously impossible.

In the past, we had no way of making liner repairs, and instead had to completely reline. It was our only option, because a damaged liner has to be restored for the safety of the homeowner.

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 211 standard states:

“If the flue liner in a chimney has softened, cracked, or otherwise deteriorated so that it no longer has the ability to contain the products of combustion (i.e. heat, moisture, creosote, and flue gases), it shall be removed and replaced, repaired, or relined…”

Local codes also require chimney liners to be in good condition. Thankfully, now we can offer you HeatShield®.

How Does HeatShield® Work?

The power of HeatShield® lies in the cerfractory sealant used. It’s a strong, heat-resistant, corrosion-resistant material that’s highly insulating. When applied to the flue, it can seal up cracks, fill in holes and gaps, and strengthen, smooth, and insulate the liner.

And the best part is, it can either be applied to specific problem areas or used to restore the entire flue liner – top to bottom. So whether the damage to your flue liner is limited to a specific area or the damage is extensive, HeatShield® can help.

There are three different HeatShield® systems:

  1. The Join Repair System – Great for repairing damage here and there.
  2. The Resurfacing System – Great for liners that have damage throughout.
  3. The CeCure® Sleeve Relining System – Great for liners that need additional support and a fresh surface.
